Voting Question: What kind of longboard should I get?

I will start off by saying that I have never skateboarded in my life, much less longboarded, so I'm pretty new to all of this. I do snowboard and surf, however, so I figured longboarding would be right down my ally.

I've read all sorts of reviews and suggestions about which type of longboard to get, all of them seemed to contradict each other. So here's the deal; I'm looking for a longboard mainly for transportation, and also just recreational carving. I weigh a measly 145 pounds. I am willing to spend money if that's what it means to get a good board. Any suggestions?

Also, I have been looking into Original longboards, since I hear they replicate the feeling of surfing/carving very well. Are they any good?
